Legacy Charter and Cornerstone Charter Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2019, but likely not for long. The Legacy Charter Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Cornerstone Charter Academy Ducks at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Legacy Charter is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Legacy Charter took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 21-4 margin over City of Life Christian Academy. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their one-run performance the game before.
Kevin Barnard was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up four earned runs off three hits. Barnard was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Lucas Pena and Ryan Rushing did most of the damage at the plate: Pena scored three runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Rushing scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. Those four stolen bases gave Pena a new career-high. Chani Abreu was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Legacy Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as City of Life Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .368.
Meanwhile, Cornerstone Charter Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lake Highland Prep.
Moises Rivas made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Efrain Rivera, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
With the win, Legacy Charter broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-5. As for Cornerstone Charter Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Legacy Charter has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Cornerstone Charter Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Legacy Charter took their victory against Cornerstone Charter Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for Legacy Charter since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
