Baseball Recap: Reedley Has No Trouble Against Mendota

While Reedley didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on the Mendota Aztecs with a sharp 11-0 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Gage Betancourt was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Jarrett, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Reedley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in five consecutive games.

Reedley's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Mendota, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Reedley will take on Lemoore in a tournament on Thursday. As for Mendota, they will take on Orestimba at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
