Softball Recap: Liberty Has No Trouble Against Memorial

Liberty hadn't done well against Memorial recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Liberty was the clear victor by a 19-2 margin over Memorial. Considering the Redhawks have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Addison Hanson was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Delila Bond was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Anna Reeves was another key player, scoring four runs while going 2-for-4.

Liberty was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .405. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Memorial only posted a batting average of .273.

Liberty is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Memorial and nudges their season record down to 8-8.

Liberty wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 10-1 loss against Emerson on the 24th. As for Memorial, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-3 win against Frisco on the 26th.
