Baseball Game Preview: Sci-Tech/Springfield Renaissance CyberCats vs. Gateway Regional Gators

The Sci-Tech/Springfield Renaissance CyberCats are taking a road trip to face off against the Gateway Regional Gators at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Gateway Regional took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Sci-Tech/Springfield Renaissance, who comes in off a win.

Sci-Tech/Springfield Renaissance barely beat Putnam Vo-Tech the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The CyberCats were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Beavers on Friday. The CyberCats haven't had any issues with the Beavers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Sci-Tech/Springfield Renaissance let Stiven Nuez and Juniel Olivo run wild. Nuez scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Olivo scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Bell, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Gateway Regional unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against Smith Vo-Tech on Monday, falling 7-0. The Gators have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Sci-Tech/Springfield Renaissance couldn't quite finish off Gateway Regional in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 7-5. Can the CyberCats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
