Baseball Recap: Armijo Drops Highest Score of Season Against Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Armijo). They blew past the Valley Vikings 22-0 on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Nick Isayi was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. Isayi was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Willie Nickson was a standout: he scored four runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kevin Marks, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.

Armijo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .684. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Armijo is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.2 runs over those games. As for Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Coming up, Armijo will host Florin at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.22 runs per game on average), something the Royals will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Valley, they have already played their next match, a 23-2 win against Highlands on the 14th.
