Basketball Recap: AJ Breslin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pleasant Grove over Sheldon

Pleasant Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 54-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sheldon Huskies. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 551st, while the Huskies are ranked 148th).

Pleasant Grove's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was AJ Breslin, who posted eight points. Another player making a difference was Christopher Billy, who earned six points and six boards.

Sheldon's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sebastian James, who put up seven points and eight rebounds. What's more, James also racked up two assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Baron Sabir was another key player, putting up nine points and five boards.

Pleasant Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Sheldon, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-9.

Pleasant Grove didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 68-51 loss against Elk Grove on the 17th. Sheldon has also already played their next game, a 65-51 victory against Franklin on the 17th.
