Softball Recap: Friday's Loss Ends Russia's Winning Streak

Russia dropped their record down to 10-10 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ansonia Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-4 back in March.

As for Ansonia, they pushed their record up to 15-11 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games.

For Ansonia's part, Bre Walker tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits.

On the hitting side, Addie Geyer was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Shyann McKenna, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

As of now, neither Russia nor Ansonia have any future games scheduled.
