Baseball Recap: Laurel Bulldogs vs. Nandua Warriors
Laurel lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Nandua, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's matchup. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 11-1 win on Friday. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 7-5 loss the last time these two teams met.
Koby Shockley was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. Shockley was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those runs marked the first that he scored this season.
In other batting news, Laurel got a big performance out of Connor Smith, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Smith also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Matt Givens, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
