Basketball Recap: Central Regional Takes a Loss

Central Regional lost against Manchester Township on January 10th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Central Regional Golden Eagles came up short against the Manchester Township Hawks, falling 55-30. The Golden Eagles were down 46-23 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Manchester Township's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jesse Sarana, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine steals. Those nine steals gave Sarana a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madeline Nolan, who went 6 for 12 on her way to 19 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Central Regional's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Manchester Township, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Regional will face off against Toms River East at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Manchester Township has already played their next contest (against Donovan Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
