Preview: Glenn Hills Spartans vs. Washington County Golden Hawks
Glenn Hills is 1-7 against Washington County since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Glenn Hills Spartans will head out on the road to challenge the Washington County Golden Hawks at 8:30 p.m. Glenn Hills is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Glenn Hills pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. Their rough 78-56 loss to Putnam County might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Glenn Hills can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 470th, while Putnam County is ranked 156th).
Meanwhile, even though Laney scored an imposing 56 points on Tuesday, Washington County still came out on top. Washington County walked away with a 65-56 win over Laney. The win was just what Washington County needed coming off of a 103-68 defeat in their prior contest.
Washington County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brashod Heggs out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Marquavion Cooper, who scored 21 points along with two steals.
Glenn Hills' loss was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-20. As for Washington County, the win got them back to even at 12-12.
Glenn Hills took a serious blow against Washington County in their previous matchup back in January, falling 65-35. Can Glenn Hills avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
