Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Eastern Montgomery

Eastern Montgomery strolled into their game on Tuesday with an undefeated record and they left with the same. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Craig County Rockets a 12-0 shutout. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mustangs also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

The result came thanks to Maze Cox's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Coltin Conner and Marshall Tate did most of the damage at the plate: Conner scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Tate scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Mason Phoenix, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Eastern Montgomery's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-0-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Craig County, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
