Basketball Recap: Kaelie Weishaar Key Part of Team Effort in Firebirds Win

It's playoff time, and Chaparral had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Fairfax Stampede by a score of 49-42 on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Firebirds also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2015.

Chaparral got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaelie Weishaar out in front who went 7-for-16 on her way to 22 points and three steals. Weishaar has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Stella Hulse was another key player, putting up eight points and five steals.

Chaparral smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. They are 7-2 when they hit their own glass that hard.

The win made it two in a row for Chaparral and bumps their season record up to 11-13. As for Fairfax, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-10.

Coming up, Chaparral is taking a road trip to take on Kellis at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fairfax does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
