Basketball Game Preview: Dexter Tigers vs. Penobscot Valley Howlers

The Dexter Tigers will take on the Penobscot Valley Howlers in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Dexter has three straight victories, Penobscot Valley has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Wednesday, Dexter took their contest with ease, bagging a 64-34 win over Central. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by exactly 30 points.

Dexter got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Bryce Cooper out in front who went 8 for 13 on his way to 16 points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kody Kimball, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 12 points in addition to seven steals and five assists.

Dexter was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

Meanwhile, Penobscot Valley was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 36-31 to Penquis Valley. The match marked the Howlers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Penobscot Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Dexter, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
