Senior forward led Laramie to third consecutive state title game appearance.

Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school basketball. The tradition continues to close out the 2024-25 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.

Neil Summers of Laramie is the 2024-25 Wyoming MaxPreps Player of the Year. The 6-foot-9 senior forward led the Plainsmen to a 17-8 record and their third consecutive appearance in the Class 4A state championship game.

For the season, Summers averaged 16.7 points and 9.6 rebounds per contest. He shot 58.4 percent percent from the field.

Summers had a number of big performances during his senior campaign, including 35 points and 15 rebounds in a 68-64 loss to East (Cheyenne) and 30 points and 13 rebounds in a 67-53 win over Central (Cheyenne).

Despite losing to Campbell County (Gillette) 62-55 in the state title game, Summers had a game-high 25 points and 11 rebounds. He averaged 23.0 points and 10.3 rebounds in three outings against the champions this season.

The post presence will remain in his hometown next season as he is signed to play at the University of Wyoming. He finished his high school career with 1,405 points and 990 rebounds.

Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released April 8.
