Softball Game Preview: Pinnacle Pioneers vs. Mountain View Toros

The Pinnacle Pioneers will be taking part in a tournament against the Mountain View Toros at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Pinnacle's last matchup with Campo Verde could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Thursday. Pinnacle lost 17-11 to Campo Verde. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (ten), the Pioneers still had to take the loss.

Sienna Caro was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Payton Crank was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one double.

Even though they lost, Pinnacle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in 20 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Mountain View beat Campo Verde 6-2 on Thursday.

The team relied heavily on Kylynn Sylvester, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Abbie Cameron, who went 2-for-3 with one home run.

Pinnacle's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-2. As for Mountain View, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Pinnacle beat Mountain View 9-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Does Pinnacle have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mountain View turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
