Basketball Recap: Schroon Lake Comes Up Short

Schroon Lake suffered their biggest defeat since December 15, 2023 on Wednesday. They came up short against the Moriah Vikings, falling 64-43. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-17.

Moriah got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cooper Allen out in front who posted 17 points and eight rebounds. Allen has been hot for a while, having posted 16 or more points the last 17 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase McGinness, who earned 11 points along with eight boards and four steals.

Schroon Lake has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season. As for Moriah, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.

Schroon Lake didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-61 victory against Seton Catholic Central on the 16th. As for Moriah, they will host Saranac at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Moriah's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
