Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Chester

Chester had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They managed a 61-55 victory over the Kelly Hawks.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chester to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lexie Mott, who went 7 of 12 on her way to 21 points and seven rebounds. The matchup was Mott's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylie Conley, who went 6 of 10 on her way to 18 points.

Chester smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Chester's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Kelly, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Chester will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Massac County at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2025. Kelly does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
