Basketball Game Preview: Waverly/South Shore Coyotes vs. Warner Monarchs

Waverly/South Shore is 1-7 against Warner since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Waverly/South Shore Coyotes will be playing in front of their home fans against the Warner Monarchs at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, Waverly/South Shore earned a 45-35 win over Ipswich.

Meanwhile, after only 26 points in their last match, Warner made sure to put some points up on the board against Leola/Frederick on Thursday. Warner came out on top against Leola/Frederick by a score of 58-51. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Monarchs' disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while the Titans are ranked 29th).

Waverly/South Shore pushed their record up to 11-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points over those games. As for Warner, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Waverly/South Shore didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Warner when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 44-40 victory. Will Waverly/South Shore repeat their success, or does Warner have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
