Baseball Recap: Berea Takes a Loss

Berea was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-9 heartbreaker at the hands of the Blacksburg Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-1 back in March.

Camdyn Moorer stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Berea: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-15 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cameron Jackson, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Berea's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Blacksburg, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-10.

Looking ahead, Berea will face off against Greenville Tech Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. Blacksburg has already played their next matchup (against Brashier Middle College Charter), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
