Basketball Recap: Somerton Takes a Loss

The Somerton Toros came up short against the Highland Prep Honey Badgers on Thursday, falling 58-33. That's two games in a row now that the Toros have lost by exactly 25 points.

Highland Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Braylon Tyson, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine steals. Another player making a difference was Gerrard Agbiwe, who shot 60% from the field en route to 14 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Somerton's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Highland Prep, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Somerton is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will face off against Gila Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Toros will be up against the Hawks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 67.25 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Highland Prep, they will square off against Rancho Solano Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Honey Badgers surely won't give up without a fight.
