Basketball Game Preview: Petersburg Vikings vs. Doddridge County Bulldogs

Having just played yesterday, the Petersburg Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Doddridge County Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Petersburg is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest defeat since January 20, 2024 on Tuesday. They came up short against Ravenswood, falling 60-34. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Vikings' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.

Meanwhile, Doddridge County entered their tilt with Greenbrier West on Monday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Cavaliers, posting a 64-36 victory. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 20 points or more this season.

Petersburg better keep an eye on Landon Thomas. He was instrumental in Doddridge County's win, dropping a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds. Thomas is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddox Jones, who posted 11 points.

Doddridge County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 17 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Doddridge County's win bumped their record up to 14-1. As for Petersburg, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.
