Softball Recap: North Pole Takes a Loss

North Pole extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 8-16 in the process. They came up short against the West Valley Wolf Pack, falling 10-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolf Pack this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-3 two weeks ago.

North Pole saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordi Darby, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple.

As for West Valley, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-5. Considering they have won four matches by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

On West Valley's side, Jacquilyn Haberstumpf made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Haberstumpf has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Aaliah Hildebrand was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Makayla Anderson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Pole will head out to take on Delta at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Valley, they will venture away from home to square off against Lathrop at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Malemutes will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Wolf Pack surely won't give up without a fight.
