Lake View and Latta are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2016, but likely not for long. Lake View will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Latta at 6:00 p.m. Lake View's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Latta's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Last Friday, Lake View made easy work of Fairmont and carried off an 11-1 win. Considering the Wild Gators have won four contests by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Latta ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past Hannah-Pamplico 5-4. Five seems to be a good number for the Vikings as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Mason Weatherford made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Latta is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Weatherford was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that he hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on BW Berry, who scored a run while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024.

Latta kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Lake View is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. The victory (which was Latta's third in a row) raised their record to 3-4.
