Barbourville had lost three straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 14-10 to make it four. They came up short against the Danville Admirals, falling 10-3. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Admirals this season, with their most recent loss being a 14-1 defeat on Saturday.
Barbourville got a good showing from Konner Bureman, who tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest earned runs Bureman has allowed since back in March.
On the hitting side, Luke Hillard made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.
As for Danville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 21-8. The result was nothing new for the Admirals, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
On Danville's side, KJ Dismeaux made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Dismeaux has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Fox Spears, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Hayden Foster, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Barbourville will take on Bell County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bobcats will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Danville, they will face off against Madison Southern at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
