Baseball Recap: Creekside Sets Scoring Season-High Against Bolles

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Creekside). They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Bolles Bulldogs on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Knights with their most commanding win of the season.

Creekside got a great performance from Matthew Bysheim as he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Bysheim also tossed a walk, which is notable because Creekside is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 6-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Parker Morton, who scored three runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Gavin Duprey, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one triple.

Creekside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Creekside has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. Bolles' defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Creekside will face off against St. Joseph Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Creekside 3.8, St. Joseph Academy 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Bolles, they will square off against Englewood at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last seven games Englewood has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
