Baseball Recap: Red Lion Christian Academy Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Red Lion Christian Academy put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. They never let the Dickinson Rams get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory. Considering the Lions have won four games by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Owen Griffing and Brayden Redmond made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Griffing pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Redmond tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Griffing went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Redmond scored a run while going 1-for-2. Those two hits gave Griffing a new career-high.

In other batting news, Anthony Contessa was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chandler Smith, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI and two doubles.

Red Lion Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dickinson only posted a batting average of .059.

Red Lion Christian Academy's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Dickinson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Red Lion Christian Academy will venture away from home to take on Lake Forest at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Dickinson, they will head out to challenge Laurel at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
