Baseball Recap: Memphis East Takes a Loss

Memphis East scored the most runs they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They lost 18-12 to the Oakhaven Hawks. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jayden Travis was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and nine unearned) runs off only two hits. Travis was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, James Kmet made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Jones, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Memphis East's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Oakhaven, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Memphis East didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 26-0 loss against St. Benedict at Auburndale on the 25th. As for Oakhaven, they will be playing at home against Westwood at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
