Softball Recap: Marina Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

With a playoff win on the line, Marina rose to the challenge on Saturday. They blew past the San Clemente Tritons 7-0. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by seven runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Rachel Ruiz, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Marina hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in ten consecutive matchups.

Marina has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-13 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for San Clemente, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 22-8-1.

Looking ahead, Marina will square off against St. Paul at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Swordsmen have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. San Clemente does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
