Football Recap: Madison-Grant Comes Up Short

Madison-Grant had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 5-3 to make it four. They received a blow as they fell 49-30 to the Alexandria-Monroe Tigers. The loss came about despite the Argylls having been up 22 in the first quarter.

As for Alexandria-Monroe, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-2. Things were looking grim for they in the first quarter (they were down by 22) but they stormed back to get the contest.

Brady Gast had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 163 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 passes, while also rushing for 80 yards and one score on only seven carries. Alexandria-Monroe is undefeated when Gast posts three or more passing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. The Tigers also got a significant boost from Clayton Martin, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 100 yards.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Madison-Grant will square off against Mississinewa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians' defense has only allowed 9.2 points per game this season, so the Argylls' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Alexandria-Monroe, they will face off against Blackford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will be up against the Bruins' rather soft defense (which has allowed 56.25 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
