Recap: Burke Cougars vs. Jones County Coyotes
The Burke Cougars were the 47-42 winner over the Jones County Coyotes when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Burke fell 61-53 to Jones County on Thursday.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jones County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gunnar Whitney, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. Whitney also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Kinsley, who scored 15 points.
Burke's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Jones County, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.
Burke will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Faulkton at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Jones County and Wessington Springs will round out the year against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday at. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Dakota (Wessington Springs is ranked 42nd, while Jones County is ranked 59th).
