The Puckett Wolves will head out to challenge the Stringer Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Puckett has four straight wins, Stringer has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, Puckett got the win against Lawrence County by a conclusive 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won three matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Truitte Carter was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Carter was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ethan Lawson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Tim Axton, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Puckett always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Stringer's offense. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sacred Heart on Saturday.
Puckett's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Stringer, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
Puckett couldn't quite finish off Stringer in their previous meeting back in March of 2025 and fell 7-5. Can the Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
