Softball Recap: Piedmont Comes Up Short

If Piedmont was riding high fresh off their 17-7 takedown of San Lorenzo two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Highlanders fell just short of the Oakland Tech Bulldogs by a score of 9-7 on Monday. The Highlanders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Sa'Mara Levi was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Edie Elmquist, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Piedmont's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Oakland Tech, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Piedmont will face off against Healdsburg at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Highlanders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Greyhounds have averaged an impressive 10.3 runs per game this season. As for Oakland Tech, they will square off against Fremont at 4:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
