Basketball Game Preview: Winfield Pirates vs. Hamilton Aggies

The Winfield Pirates just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Hamilton Aggies at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Winfield's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven contests.

Winfield is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Haleyville, posting a 68-38 win. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Hamilton fought the good fight in their overtime game against Red Bay on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 69-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The Aggies' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Winfield will have to keep a close watch on Jackson Chandler and Mason Holloway, a pair of players who had a big impact on Hamilton's prior game. Chandler shot 40% from the field on his way to 18 points, while Holloway posted 16 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Chandler continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Camden Robinson, who put up eight points and nine rebounds.

Winfield pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points over those games. As for Hamilton, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
