Baseball Recap: Ellinwood Has No Trouble Against Minneapolis

Ellinwood won the last time they faced Minneapolis and things went their way on Friday too. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over the Lions. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Cohen Gunn made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Campbell Coleman was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Trace Tudor, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

Ellinwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Ellinwood's record is now 10-11. As for Minneapolis, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Ellinwood beat Minneapolis by a score of 13-2 later that day.
