Softball Game Preview: South Salem Saxons vs. Mountainside Mavericks

The South Salem Saxons will challenge the Mountainside Mavericks at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Salem has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with seven straight losses, while Mountainside will come in with four straight wins.

Friday just wasn't the day for South Salem's offense. They lost 15-0 to McNary on Friday.

Meanwhile, Mountainside sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over Southridge on Friday.

Jojo Appling spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Aubri Kruhm, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

Mountainside's win bumped their record up to 15-10. As for South Salem, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-21.
