Softball Recap: Tranquillity Comes Up Short

Tranquillity extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 33 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-17 in the process. They lost 13-0 to the Dos Palos Broncos. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Broncos this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 back in April.

As for Dos Palos, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-8-1. Considering they have won 12 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Dos Palos' part, Carly Brinkley made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave Brinkley a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Liliana DelaRosa, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Samantha VonAllman, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Coincidentally, Tranquillity and Dos Palos will both be playing Coalinga the next time they take the field. The Broncos will host the Horned Toads at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Tigers will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
