Softball Game Preview: Southwind Jaguars vs. Arlington Tigers

Southwind is 0-6 against Arlington since March of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. The Jaguars will be playing at home against the Tigers at 4:30 p.m.

Southwind is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Cordova, falling 10-4.

Meanwhile, Arlington never let their opponents score on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Bartlett as they made off with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Brittanie Layton made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last eight contests. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.

In other batting news, Rory Caldwell was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. McKenzie Walker was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Arlington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bartlett only posted a batting average of .000.

Arlington is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-10-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Southwind, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
