Softball Recap: Fairview Comes Up Short

Fairview was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Milan Indians.

Maddie McGowan spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and eight unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

At the plate, Allie Penning led a balanced group of hitters, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Mollie Street, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Fairview's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Milan, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

Fairview has already played their next contest, an 8-3 win against Gordonsville on the 29th. As for Milan, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 7-6 victory against Sycamore on the 29th.
