Basketball Recap: Calhoun Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Calhoun won the last time they faced Adairsville and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Calhoun Yellow Jackets came out on top against the Adairsville Tigers by a score of 52-39. Given the Yellow Jackets' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while the Tigers are ranked 209th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Calhoun is also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points per game. As for Adairsville, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-14.

Calhoun will host Ridgeland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Adairsville, they will square off against LaFayette at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Adairsville is facing LaFayette at the right time seeing as LaFayette is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
