Basketball Game Preview: Northfield Raiders vs. Mayo Spartans + Official Tickets

Northfield is 1-9 against Mayo since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Raiders will head out on the road to take on the Spartans at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Mayo will be up against a hot Northfield squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Raiders claimed a resounding 65-17 win over Mankato East. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Grace Mostad continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 6-for-10 on her way to 13 points and four steals. What's more, she also posted a 60% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in January. Another player making a difference was Siri Richardson, who shot 71% from the field to rack up 11 points and six boards.

Northfield was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Mayo took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Century 83-22. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Northfield's record is now 4-0. As for Mayo, their record now sits at 1-0.

Northfield lost to Mayo on the road by a decisive 62-48 margin in their previous meeting back in January. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
