Baseball Recap: Liberty Union Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Liberty Union waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They skirted past the Hamilton Township Rangers 7-5. That's two games straight that the Lions have won by exactly two runs.

Tanner Farmer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cam Wood was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Alex Johnson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Liberty Union was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Liberty Union's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Hamilton Township, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberty Union will take on Eastmoor Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Lions will need to watch out since the Warriors have now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests. As for Hamilton Township, they will welcome Johnstown-Monroe at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Rangers are facing the Johnnies at the right time seeing as the Johnnies are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
