There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. Among the action were the efforts of Liberty's junior Jay Butterfield, an offensive menace who scored five total TDs.
Can't Touch This
San Ramon Valley got a 35 - 7 win over Dublin last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Tristan Sinclair. Sinclair rushed for 183 yards and two touchdowns. That performance made Sinclair one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
No Stoppin 'Em
It was another game, another high-octane performance for Pittsburg last week (their 3rd in a row). It picked up a decisive 'W' against Heritage, finishing up at 66 - 14. Pittsburg especially relied on senior Trey Turner, who tossed the ball for 155 yards and four TDs, and senior Willie Harts III, who found the end zone on one run and two receptions. At 80 total points, this was the highest scoring power ranking game of the week.
Look Out Below
Bishop O'Dowd is a little down this week -- likely figuratively, certainly literally. The team fell six spots in the power rankings (the most of any team in the rankings) after its most recent contest. It was crushed by St. Mary's 44 - 20. Part of the problem was that the offensive line had trouble protecting the QB, who was sacked 6.5 times.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Freedom (8th in the power rankings) and Liberty (2nd). This will be the second home game in a row for Liberty. Only one team will win this week, so we'll see which team fails to repeat its success.
