Basketball Recap: Houston Academy Comes Up Short

Houston Academy lost against Northside Methodist Academy back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Houston Academy Raiders took a 46-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northside Methodist Academy Knights.

When it comes to explaining why Houston Academy lost, don't look at Mary Helen Mendheim. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Mendheim has become a key player for Houston Academy: the team is 6-3 when she posts at least 15 points, but 4-5 otherwise. Molly Rutland was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Houston Academy's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Northside Methodist Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.

Houston Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 43-40 defeat against Thomasville on the 7th. As for Northside Methodist Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 65-50 victory against Wilcox Central on the 7th.
