Baseball Game Preview: Charlotte Trojans vs. Knippa Crushers

The Charlotte Trojans will venture away from home to challenge the Knippa Crushers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Charlotte is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

Things were looking good for Charlotte after they put the first points on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 9-3 to Falls City.

Josh Gaitan was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and eight unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Gaitan wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Sanchez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Knippa came up short against Sabinal on Tuesday, falling 12-5. The defeat continues a trend for the Crushers in their meetings with the Yellowjackets: they've now lost four in a row.

Memphis G made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high.

Charlotte's record is now 4-9. As for Knippa, their record is now 5-7.

Charlotte took their victory against Knippa in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 9-0. Will Charlotte repeat their success, or does Knippa has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
