Preview: Stanton Mustangs vs. Wisner-Pilger Gators

Stanton and Wisner-Pilger are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2017, but not for long. The Stanton Mustangs will face off against the Wisner-Pilger Gators at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Stanton fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Twin River on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 60-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Titans. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Skyler Siebrandt, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelby Pohlman, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Wisner-Pilger's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 49-39 to North Bend Central. Wisner-Pilger has not had much luck with North Bend Central recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Stanton has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. As for Wisner-Pilger, they dropped their record down to 6-11 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
Everything went Stanton's way against Wisner-Pilger in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as Stanton made off with a 61-41 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Stanton since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
