Gustine got themselves on the board against Modesto Christian on Thursday, but Modesto Christian never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Crusaders with a sharp 11-0 victory. Considering the Reds have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Alexander Quezada made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Gustine got a massive performance out of Frank Silveira, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was Silveira's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Campbell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Gustine pushed their record up to 16-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Modesto Christian, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-19.

Gustine will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Stone Ridge Christian at 4:00 p.m. on May 1. As for Modesto Christian, they will be taking part in a tournament against Ceres at 11:15 a.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Crusaders' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
