Volleyball Recap: Parkway West Extends Winning Streak to Four

Parkway West entered their tilt with Oakville on Wednesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Longhorns have posted since October 2, 2024.

Parkway West had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 19-25, 25-23, 26-24, 15-11.

Katie Byergo paced Parkway West's offense, picking up 13 kills. Byergo got some help from Elle Lanfersieck and her 35 assists. Finally, Hannah Jennings and Sophie Gansen kept the team grounded on defense, each having blocked three attacks.

Parkway West's win bumped their record up to 11-2-1. As for Oakville, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.

Coincidentally, Parkway West and Oakville will both be playing Webster Groves the next time they take the court. The Longhorns will head out to face the Statesmen at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Tigers will play them later in the day, at 7:15 p.m.
