Softball Recap: Smoky Mountain Mustangs vs. East Henderson Eagles

Smoky Mountain started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against East Henderson. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 8-7 on Thursday. The Mustangs' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Elle Wahnethah was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off 12 hits (and only one walk). Wahnethah was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Callie Winchester was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Ezilah Baylon was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

Smoky Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 4-18. As for East Henderson, they moved to 5-18 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
