Football Recap: Edison Eagles vs. Coweta Tigers

Edison extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 1-6. They had to suffer through a 44-7 loss at the hands of the Coweta Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 165th, while the Tigers are ranked 26th).

As for Coweta, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.6 points on average this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Coweta to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brock Heilmann, who rushed for 133 yards and one touchdown on only 15 carries. Heilmann is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 112 every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Legend Ellis, who rushed for 31 yards and a pair of TDs.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Edison is set to square off against their familiar foe Shawnee at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Coweta will challenge rival Durant at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
