Softball Game Preview: Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers vs. Lincoln Cougars

Buckhannon-Upshur hasn't had much luck against Lincoln recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Buccaneers will host the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Buckhannon-Upshur has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Buckhannon-Upshur and University had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Buccaneers came up short against the Hawks on Monday, falling 19-1.

Buckhannon-Upshur saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddy Tucker, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Lincoln fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Philip Barbour on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Colts by a score of 13-12. Surprisingly, this marked the Cougars' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Kennedy Linville made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Riley Pearlman, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Buckhannon-Upshur's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Lincoln, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-8.

Buckhannon-Upshur beat Lincoln 10-7 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Buccaneers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
